ABOUT
Governance
Clear, elected and accountable bodies for a transparent, participatory association.
OUR BODIES
How AMAC is organized
General Assembly (GA)
The supreme, sovereign body made up of all regular members. It sets the direction, elects the Executive Committee, sets fees, approves reports and decides on bylaw changes.
- Regular GA: 3rd Saturday of each month, 5–8 pm.
- In July the GA is held outdoors around a cultural activity; no GA in August.
- In December, the members’ children’s party replaces the GA.
- Quorum: 55% of regular members; decisions by a 51% majority.
Executive Committee (EC)
Eleven directors elected by secret ballot for 2 years (renewable once in the same role). The EC runs day-to-day affairs, implements GA decisions and meets monthly.
- President and Vice-President
- Secretary General and Deputy
- Treasurer and Auditor
- Censor (discipline)
- Member assistance lead
- Cultural activities lead
- Events and leisure lead
- Communications, public relations and projects lead
Council of Elders
Nine members approved by the GA, each with at least 4 years of membership. This advisory and deliberative body guides the EC and GA, runs elections, settles disputes between members and rules on appeals (within 60 days). It meets every two months.
Committees
Each regular member chooses, by January 30, the committee they will serve on for the year. Each committee has a lead who reports to the EC or GA; supporters may also join.

The membership list and members’ personal information are strictly confidential: they are never shared with third parties without express consent and are used solely to run the association.
